The night before last, Alacra celebrated the close of a terrific 2004 at our annual holiday party, held this year at Fuelray Bar & Lounge in the West Village (go there).
We toasted big wins which include more than 15 new databases, a 25% gain in revenue (again!) and our second year on DT’s Technology Fast 50 list for NY! We toasted some arrivals – new VP of Sales & Mktg., Fran Falchook, a new baby boy born to Rosa Wilkins, Software Developer, a second daughter born to Barbara Koscs, VP of Prod. Mgmt. and a new baby daughter for Web Editor Carlos Azeglio. We toasted a loss – good friend and original Data Downlink developer extraordinaire, Taro Kikkawa, who passed on in March. We miss him a lot. We toasted our customers, without whom there would be no Alacra and no party.
Naturally, we toasted each other too. We shared some food, some drinks, a whole lot of laughs and even stumped everyone pretty good with this year’s game – an Alacra crossword puzzle.
What a thrill it’s been watching this little startup – once just some terrific ideas for delivering data and a staff of ten in a single room – blossom into a really great company. No longer a little startup, Alacra is a strong, unique organization full of talent, diversity, dedication and verve and one that is now proving itself a formidable challenger in the business information space.
I can’t wait for next year.
